Kuusi's music forms a unique, cinematic blend of neoclassical with touches of dreampop, ambient, and indie folk.

"They were your scars, that were hurting me"

In a poetic manner, Kuusi portrays how a toxic dynamic in a relationship can feel, yet also conveys an optimistic message: there will always be a moment when you have enough resilience to emerge from such a situation. Atmospheric strings and a driving rhythm form the perfect combination for the story Kuusi aims to tell. Drawing inspiration from artists like Olafur Arnalds, Ane Brun, and Massive Attack, Fien collaborates with producer Sasja Maekelberg (Larssen.), cellist Renke Van Impe, and viola player Esther Coorevits (Momoyo, Noémie Wolfs, ...) to create the Kuusi sound.

The sneaky maze

"It slumbers through the air, and it hides the path that I want to take"

For her second single 'The Sneaky Maze', Kuusi drew inspiration from the COVID-19 crisis and how it felt like a gigantic maze tightening its grip around us. As with her debut single, Kuusi collaborated with producer Sasja Maekelberg for this second release. Additionally, various nature sounds were sampled and incorporated into the single, enriching its atmospheric and layered sound.

Could you

To emphasize the desolate and fragile content of this debut single in a music video, Fien and photographer Femke den Hollander traveled to the Opal Coast in France. There, they sought the most beautiful light as unset and sunrise. The result is a blanket for your ears and soul.

Float away

The song "Float Away" is one of the oldest songs Fien ever wrote, exploring themes of closeness and simultaneously distancing oneself. A live session of the song was recorded at The Rua Room.

"Kuusi's debut single lets you dream away. Fien Druyts, who created this musical project, has crafted a musically refined piece of music.."
